2022 School Competition Winner

01 December 2022

In February 2022 Sytner Group once again partnered with The Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI) to inspire the next generation of vehicle users to design a concept car for 2030.

The aim of the competition was to address some of the age-old misconceptions about working in the automotive industry. Unlike previous years the 2022 competition was launched to both Primary and Secondary school students all with the chance of winning a VIP Family Ticket for a fantastic experience at Goodwood Festival of Speed in 2023 as well as some branded goodies from our dealerships.

We received entries from schools across the whole of the UK and whilst standards were incredibly high there was one idea that was both cost-saving and environmentally friendly that ultimately took the top spot. The 11 year old winner from Leeds named his design CaSE (Cost-Saving, Safe and environmentally friendly) as his design brings together the latest technologies to reduce vehicle ownership costs, protect the planet and keep families safe.

We were wowed with the detail the student had put into his entry and his understanding of our industry!

The student found out they had won the competition at a surprise presentation during a school assembly on Thursday 1st December. Representatives from the IMI, Sytner Groups Central Recruitment Manager and Future Talent Advisor presented their prize of a VIP Family Goodwood Festival of Speed ticket, as well as sharing details of his design with the whole school!

After an amazing morning presenting the award we received fantastic feedback all round! With one teacher coming back to us to say “I just wanted to say a big thank you for coming here yesterday to award the prize. The year 7 thoroughly enjoyed you all coming in and talked about it all day so thank you!”

At Sytner Group, we have a commitment to diversity and inclusivity and put developing talent and building careers at the core of what we do. It’s for that reason that we know the importance of initiatives like this competition and helping the children in our local communities to build on their skills. We’re incredibly proud of the competition and impressed by the quality of all of the entries that we received. We’d like to thank everyone that entered the competition and would like to extend our congratulations to the winners once again!
