Sytner Group Assessment Centres

At Sytner Group we incorporate Assessment Centres into our recruitment process for some of our roles.

 

The contents and length of our assessment centres can vary between the various different brands that we represent however, generally will take place over the course of a few hours, in which time we hold various different tasks or challenges to assess your capability and suitability for the role which you’ve applied for.

 

The aim of these events is to provide a relaxed environment where you can showcase your personality and skills that you have to offer. There are generally a mix of tasks, from written tasks, to group discussions or sometimes more practical exercises in our dealership environments. Therefore, they are a fantastic opportunity to get to know our dealerships a little better, leave a great impression and show us why you’d fit in perfectly to the Sytner Group family!  

 

We spoke to two of our hiring managers in our Mercedes-Benz division as to why they enjoy assessment centres and why they are beneficial. Below are a list of reasons why they believe that assessment centres work so well!

 

“We can see potential future colleagues interacting in a more natural way with a peer group rather than an ordinary back and forth interview style.”

“It allows us to present a fun and interactive recruitment session which helps people relax and perform to their best.””

“Assessment centres give candidates a feel for some of the key aspects of the position they have applied for in a low risk environment. The task are designed to help them present their own skills that they would be bringing to the team. “

“The candidates get to see more of our business in one visit than seeing one office for an interview. “

“They are area specific which makes it relevant for the location of the site and allows us to recruit from the local area and community.”

“A varied level of experience between the assessors on the day helps to obtain a balanced view.”

“They give us the opportunity to see candidates in a different format & environment that will not only put them at ease but also challenge their communication skills, this is vital within our area of business but in particular within our sales teams.”

 

If you’re successful at one of our assessment centres it will generally lead onto a face to face interview with the hiring managers of the role in a traditional style.

 

We understand that events such as these can be sources of anxiety for some individuals and we work hard to ensure that the event itself is relaxed and enjoyable to enable you to show us your full potential.

 

As part of our commitment to diversity and inclusivity our assessment centres will be suitable for any candidate as reasonable adjustments can be implemented. Some examples of these are verbal tests as opposed to written, alternate document formats or additional time to complete tasks with the overall aim to reduce any worry and allow you to perform to the best of your ability.
