International Women's Day 2024 - Akila Chetitah

Across Sytner Group we have many inspiring female colleagues achieving their career aspirations with us.

In the lead up to International Women’s Day this Friday, 8^th March Akila tells us about what motivates her in her career path to achieve her goals; 

Career path: I started working in local councils in Germany focusing on Culture and Arts as a Linguistics student and joined a Business School in France where my love for Marketing was ignited. After working in the cosmetics industry Germany and France, I decided to study Entrepreneurship and Innovation Management to be able to have my own business one day. Once I graduated, I worked in the automotive industry in the UK (SKODA, Citroen) for both Marketing agencies and the OEM. Following the birth of my son and my maternity leave, I decided to give a try to entrepreneurship and set up my own Coaching and Consulting business. I then bumped into Sytner’s new role of Group CRM Manager and thought it was a great company and team to join, to learn more and share my knowledge with.

Since starting at Sytner, I have joined the GEN Group following my Manager’s recommendation. I have been empowered and supported by the GEN group both professionally and personally. I am now Chair of the GEN Group and aim to build a safe space for all of us to share our experiences and feelings and empower our colleagues, friends and families in creating a fairer society for everyone, no matter our differences. As leaders in the automotive industry, I hope we will become the role model of gender equality in the automotive industry.

What drives you?

My thirst for knowledge, self-development and entrepreneurship. My love for my children.
