15 August 2024

At Sytner Group, we take pride in supporting numerous charities and continuously back our colleagues in their various activities and efforts to champion causes that matter to them.

One of our dealerships to most recently arrange and take part in an activity of this nature was Porsche Centre Edinburgh who put a group of colleagues together to take on the National 3 Peaks Challenge in 24 hours in order to raise money for MND Scotland!

The challenge itself comprises of climbing the three highest peaks in Scotland, England and Wales. Ben Nevis in Scotland, Scafell Pike in England and Snowdon in Wales.

The total walking distance is 23 miles (37km) and the total ascent is 3064 metres (10,052ft) which is twice the ascent of some other challenges of a similar nature! In addition to this, travel is a large part of the challenge due to the distance between the 3 walking/climbing locations with a driving distance totalling 462 miles so remaining motivated and energised also plays a huge part in the challenge alongside the physical element of the task at hand.

The team faced challenging conditions on the day from the weather however persevered and successfully completed the challenge in under the 24-hour mark! This is a fantastic achievement to a physically and mentally demanding experience but in addition, to date the team have raised over £4,000 for this fantastic cause.

Our colleagues said;

 “This was a physical and mentally challenging 24 hours, as well as facing gale force winds and heavy downpours of rain and hail as we tackled each mountain. However, we stuck together and worked as a team until we crossed the finishing line!

We couldn’t thank everyone enough, without your support we would not have completed this challenge or raise such an incredible amount of money for an amazing cause!”

MND Scotland is a charity surrounding Motor Neuron Disease which fund ground-breaking research and world-class clinical trials, as-well as supporting those suffering with MDN and their loved ones around them. This support is offered in many different ways such as financial support, assisting in well-being of those impacted and assisting those suffering with remaining independent or improving their quality of life. There are then various different ways in which MDN Scotland can assist and support as part of each of these topics.

The work that MND Scotland does is truly life changing and we’re exceptionally proud of our team at Porsche Centre Edinburgh in their efforts to raise such a fantastic amount of money for the cause!
